Cold (cold roll) and tape laminators are different names for the same process. They do not require heat for the operation and therefore, unlike other models, can be operated outdoors. Both use pressure to achieve the lamination.
These machines all use film ("tape") with an adhesive layer, one which is pressure-sensitive. All models have supply rolls for the film. The very simplest ones use a lever to move the film plus document though the nip point - really green operation! (These are probably the best units to use if there are kids around), More expensive machines are electrically-powered and may be push-button- or even pedal-operated.
